SWACHH RAIL- SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN, SNCF CARRIES OUT THE 8TH PHASE

On Saturday, June 11, 2016, the Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation carried out a day-long cleanliness drive at 46 main railway stations across the country. Starting from October 2, 2015, it was the 8th phase of cleanliness under the Swachh Rail – Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The campaign could not be undertaken last month due to the sudden demise of Nirankari Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj on May 13. Otherwise the Foundation cleans the stations once in every month and is committed to continue the drive for one year.

In Pune, more than 1,000 volunteers of the Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation and Sant Nirankari Sewa Dal participated in the June 11 drive both at the railway station at the yard. Divided in groups, the volunteers cleaned all the platforms and the surroundings. This created awareness for the need of cleanliness among passengers and other visitors as also the staff.

The drive was formally inaugurated by Shri Prashant Jagtap, Mayor in the presence of ADRM, Shri Milind Devaskar and Sr. DCM, Shri Gaurav Jha along with other prominent authorities from the Pune Division of Central Railways. While they offered condolences on the demise of Baba Ji, they looked forward to a lasting partnership between the Railways and the Foundation for this noble cause of cleanliness. Shri Tarachand Karamchandani, Zonal Incharge thanked the Chief Guest, Railway Authorities and the participants.
