760 NIRANKARIS IN MUMBAI PLEDGE TO DONATE THEIR EYES
Considerable enthusiasm marked the Eye Donation campaign organized by Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation in association with J.J. Hospital and K.E.M. Hospital at New Hind Mhada Colony, Girani Kamgar Maidan, Rambhau Bhosale Marg, Ghodapdev, Mumbai on March 20, 2016 wherein 760 Nirankari devotees pledged to donate their eyes, posthumously, for the benefit of those without vision.
The camp was inaugurated by renowned Eye Specialist Padmashree Dr.Tatyarao Lahane, Dean of J.J. Hospital, Mumbai. Dr. Avinash Supe, Dean of KEM Hospital, Shri Dhanjay Barhade, Trustee of Siddhivinayak Mandir and Vaibhavi Chavan, Corporator of Ward No.200 were present on the occasion. In his speech, Dr.Lahane created awareness and the need for eye donation, dispelling myths and misconceptions associated with it and also appreciated the selfless services of Sant Nirankari Mission towards humanity.
In the scenario where tremendous technological advances are taking place, people are not forthcoming for such pledges, it is a remarkable achievement and another step forward in service to humanity by the Sant Nirankari Mission under its social welfare wing named SNCF, which could muster this large number.
Sant Nirankari Sewadal Unit No. 205 and 206 played a major role to make a grand success of the camp. Along with the concerned Sanchalaks of the Sewadal Units Rev Shankar Sonawane, Kshetriya Sanchalak was also present on the occasion to guide the donors. Shri Shashikant Parab and Dr. Samdisha Nasa from SNCF accompanied them.
Amongst the other dignitaries who visited the camp were Shri Ramakant Rahate, Corporator, Shri Mangesh Bansode, Ex-Corporator, Shri Johar, Social Activist and Shri Madhukar Karaji, a renowned Marathi poet. Office bearers of Sant Nirankari Mandal, Mumbai Shri Virendra Bamne, Shri Chandrakant Jadhav, Shri Ramaiyya and Shri Balkrishna Mandavkar were also present on the occasion.
