The Sant Nirankari Mission celebrated Guru Puja Diwas on February 23, 2016. It also happened to be the 62nd Birthday of His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj. The day was observed in two parts – a country-wide cleanliness and tree plantation drive from 8.00 am to 12.00 noon and then special congregations in the evening.
Conducted under the auspices of the Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation, the cleanliness drive covered, besides other places, 120 major hospitals in 108 cities and a large number of dispensaries across the country, while the tree plantation was carried out in the Mission’s Satsang Bhawans and various public places including parks.
In view of the ongoing ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ with special concentration on hospitals, clinics and nursing homes in the country during the fortnight from February 15 to 29, the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India welcomed the Mission’s effort as a massive voluntary contribution in the same. In fact, in view of its major partnership, the Government of India has already declared the Mission as its brand ambassador in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
The Hon’ble Minister of Railways Shri Suresh Prabhu conveyed good wishes to His Holiness on behalf of the entire Railway community on his Birthday and added, “Your contribution towards the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan pioneered by the Hon’ble Prime Minister and the cleanliness drive carried out at various Railway Stations is an example for others to follow. This has served as a source of inspiration for the people. The Railways will always remain indebted to you for this. I do hope that you will continue to lead people in this direction in future also. I pray for your good health and long life.”
In Delhi, the tree plantation drive was launched by His Holiness himself with planting a tree in the Mission’s Samagam Ground No. 8 complex, near Sant Nirankari Colony. He planted one tree on behalf of his esteemed spouse, Pujya Mata Sawinder Ji also who could not attend the ceremony herself. Similarly, Shri Narinder Singh Ji, Member Incharge, Nirankari Sarovar Complex also participated in the ceremony by planting another tree.
The hospitals cleaned in the Capital included LNJP Hospital near Delhi Gate, Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, Rohini, Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital, Shastri Park and Dr. Hedgewar Aarogya Sansthan, Karkardooma.
