The fundamental outcome from a U.N. conference was that we are heading towards a set of economic, social and environmental crisis and the only way to change things is to rethink development keeping in mind the patent message that people are important, but equally important is the planet on which the prosperity of these people depends. Global Warming and environmental distress cause anxiety over the future of our planet. Feeling duly concerned with the Environment crisis, the United Nations have declared 5th June as World Environment Day since 1972.

SNCF has also observed World Environment Day, by arranging nature friendly activities at 8 Indian Hills Stations.

Primary function was held at Mussorie (Uttrakhand) where Nirankari Satguru Mata Savinder Hardev Ji Maharaj presided over the day long program. An Exhibition at Jhulaghar, Mall Road was inaugurated by Her Holiness which depicted distinguished socio charitable activities of Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation. An eye donation camp was also organized within the exhibition where many people pledged to donate their eyes. Rev. Behan Bindiya Chhabra ji, the Executive President of SNCF explained to the 1200 plus volunteers and sewadal members that our Mission cleans the minds and is also awake to environmental pollution. A number of saplings were also planted on this occasion besides cleaning the city. The Chief Guest Sh. Manmohan Singh Mal (Chairman Muncipal Committee Mussoriee) joined in the mass pledge taken by all the present to keep the environment clean. Sh. Mal recalled his gratefulness to Nirankari Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj and now Her Holiness Satguru Mata Ji for continuously blessing Mussorie year after year.

One Kilo Meter long human chain was also formed by SNCF Volunteers, Sewadal and other devotees as a symbolic gesture for spreading the message of cleaner environment and planting trees. Former Minister of Uttrakhand Sh. Jyot Singh Ji also graced the occasion.

In Shimla (HP) the Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation observed the World Environment Day by adopting Kamla Nehru Hospital for not only cleanliness and tree plantation but its beautification also. The Environment Day program proved a special occasion for the hospital and its surroundings. The Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Dev Vrat Ji inaugurated the program by planting a tree and leading the Foundation’s volunteers and Sewa Dal members in the cleanliness drive.

Speaking on the occasion, Acharya Dev Vrat Ji said that global warming is threatening every living being. Since life depends mostly on Nature, it is the duty of every citizen of the world to keep the environment free from pollution.

Referring to religion, Acharya Dev Vrat Ji said that it teaches us to do unto others what we want others to do unto us. It is, however, a matter of regret that today religion prefers to identify itself with dress, diet and rituals which keeps man distanced from man. He appreciated the message of Nirankari Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj that religion unites, it does not divide. He said that the Sant Nirankari Mission is setting a unique example through service to humanity in different ways.

Among other dignitaries present on the occasion were the Shimla Municipal Commissioner Shri G.C. Negi and Deputy Commissioner Shri Prashant Sarkake as also the Chief Medical Officer of Kamla Nehru Hospital Dr. L.S. Chaudhary. Dr. Chaudhary thanked the Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation for adopting the Hospital and its surroundings for maintenance and beautification.

Smt. Rajwant Kaur Ji, Zonal Incharge Shimla thanked the Chief Guest and other dignitaries for encouraging the volunteers to take part in the program, which also included a long human chain from Bamloe Chowk to Kamla Nehru Hospital. A special exhibition was put up by the Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation at Gaiety Theatre which remained open to public for 3 days from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm daily. The presence of Rev. Raj Vasdev Ji, Rev. Vasdev Singh Ji, Rev. K.K. Kashyap Ji and Rev. Rakesh Mutreja Ji from Headquarters was a source of inspiration for the organizers and participants.

In Rishikesh, the program started with the prayer and the oath ceremony at Triveni Ghat by around 1500 SNCF Volunteers, Sewadal Members and other devotees to keep the environment clean. Rev. S.L. Khurana Ji and Rev. J.S. Khurana Ji from Delhi participated in the program and spoke about the various socio charitable activities relating to Heal (Health), Enrich (Education) and Empower (Upliftment) of needy sections of society.

The ceremony was followed by a thorough cleanliness drive at Triveni Ghat and other areas along the river. The volunteers also cleaned and leveled Deen Dayal Park in the Municipal Corporation Complex. Along with cleanliness drive, the tree plantation program was also carried out. It was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Speaker of the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sahba, Shri Premchand Aggarwal Ji by planting a sapling. Shri Brijesh Kumar Tewari SDM also participated in the ceremony and planted a tree. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Aggarwal said that saints always wish and endeavour for the welfare of all. It is with the same spirit that Nirankari devotees have assembled here in such a large member to remove the pollution despite the scorching heat of the sun. He said that this has been possible due to the blessings of Satguru Mata Savinder Hardev Ji Maharaj.

After the cleanliness and tree plantation drives, all the participants formed a human chain from Triveni Ghat to Triveni Ghat Chowk in order to create awareness and provide inspiration to the citizens to keep the environment free from pollution. They carried placards with slogans that cleanliness of mind and environment go together. A special exhibition was also put up by the Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation to highlight its activities especially related to cleanliness and tree plantation drives.

In Manali (HP), first of all the participants numbering around 500 SNCF Volunteers, Sewadal and devotees gathered for prayers. After that a long human chain on the Mall Road was formed with a clarion call for keeping the environment clean. Then, it took the form of a rally which was flagged off by Shri Radhey Shyam Ji from Head Quarters. The participants carried placards on sanitation and plantation.

The Chief Guest, Sh. Ravi Thakur, MLA from Lahaul and Spiti inaugurated the exhibition of SNCF depicting the broadbased socio charitable activities of SNCF. Shri Thakur appreciated the SNCF for organizing this massive drive on the World Environment Day.

Rev Tej Singh Chaudhary, Zonal Incharge, Smt Lavleen Tharmani, Vice President of the Himachal Pradesh Mahila Patrakar Sangh, Smt. Madhubala, its District President and Smt. Renu, General Secretary were also present.

After this meeting, all the participants carried out the cleanliness drive. The program was marked by a street play (Nukkad-Natak) presented by the young devotees both during the human chain/rally and the cleanliness drive.

In Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, main program was organized at Mahatma Gandhi Marg. While Shri Pintso Chopel Lepcha, MLA and Parliamentary Secretary was the Chief Guest, the Mayor of the town Shri Shakti Singh Chaudhary was also present. Shri Kuldeep Singh Ji and Sh. S.K. Juneja Up-Mukhya Sanchalak Sewa Dal represented the SNCF Headquarters, Delhi.

The program started with a long human chain by SNCF Volunteers and Sewadal carrying placards which took the form of a rally that concluded at the M.G. Marg where, after the prayer, the participants were addressed by the Hon’ble Chief Guest and Shri Kuldeep Singh Ji. Shri Lepcha highlighted the importance of the clean environment and appreciated the initiative and contribution by the Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation. Shri Kuldeep Singh Ji stressed that cleanliness of mind and environment go together. After this, all the participants organized a cleanliness and tree plantation drive at the S.T.N.M. Hospital Complex.

In Nainital, around 1200 SNCF volunteers, Sewadal members and devotees planted saplings and carried out mega cleanliness and tree plantation drives.

The program was graced by Shri Deependra Kumar Chaudhary (District Magistrate, Nainital) who inaugurated the SNCF exhibition. After inauguration, Sh. Deependra Kumar Ji was welcome by a bouquet and literature of the Mission by the Member Incharges Rev. Ashok Kumar Ji, Rev. H.C. Sirohi Ji and Rev. Usha Sirohi Ji from Headquarter Delhi.

In his speech he appreciated the initiatives taken by SNCF for creating awareness among the people regarding cleanliness and tree plantation. SNCF Volunteers and Sewadal Members cleaned Naina Devi Mandir, Talitaal, Roadways Bus Stand, Malital and Mall Road areas. The garbage pickup vans were provided by the Municipal Corporation. Thereafter saplings were planted by the Chief Guest and many others.

Finally, there were various cultural items, including the welcome speech, various nukkad nataks, poems and speeches. All the members in charge spoke about the need for conserving the environment the way SNCF is contributing towards achieving it. This program concluded by the pledge which was taken by the entire gathering for safe guarding the environment.

The campaign concluded with the formation of Human chain on the mall road in which all volunteers held each other’s hands along with placards showing various slogans to conserve the environment.

In Dalhousie (HP), the World Environment Day was celebrated at Khajjiar, Dalhousie. Here, approx. 600 saints participated in the cleanness drive and 49 people donated their eyes by filling pledge forms.

At 9:30 am, Chief Guest Mr. Vijay Kumar, Additional Divisional Magistrate visited the Khajjiar Lake and motivated the people present in the event to conserve environment through cleanliness and tree plantations. Rev. Behan Joginder Kaur Ji from Chandigarh and Rev. Shubhkaran Ji represented the SNCF Headquarters.

The SNCF Volunteers and Sewadal assembled there actively participated in the drive. The entire area was cleaned and the garbage lifted away. An exhibition was also setup to display the activities of SNCF in the fields of Health, Education and Empowerment. A long human chain was formed to spread the message that cleanliness both inside and outside is beneficial for society.

In Mahabaleshwar (Maharashtra). Around 9 a.m. about 3000 SNCF Volunteers and Sewadal besides some local dignitaries assembled at the massive Parking Area near the ST Bus Stand. Cultural pogrammes took place at Ambedkar Chowk, near Poonam Hotel, Venna Lake and Mapro Garden.

A Human Chain was formed by hundreds of volunteers of the Foundation and spread from Nagarpalika to Venna Lake. At the same time another Human Chain with placards in hands from ST Stand to Shivaji Chowk to Panchayat Samiti via Medha Road was also formed. Mega cleanliness Drives were conducted at the Govt. M.G. Hospital, Venna Lake Area and School Mohalla Area. Trees were also planted at prime locations and saplings were gifted to authorities. An Exhibition depicting the various activities of the SNCF also displayed the various contributions of the Foundation towards social upliftment and also towards conservation. Rev. Narinder Singh Mamaji and Rev. Behan Raj Kumari Ji represented the Delhi Headquarters.

Thousands of volunteers from all over Satara, Pune and Mumbai zones participated in the event. The Cultural event was followed by multiple activities spread all over the hill stations at various venues. Massive Tree Plantation and cleanliness Drives were carried out.

MANDORA (District Sonepat, Haryana).On this World Environment Day, 2017,after the prayer at 7:30 a.m. around 250 SNCF Volunteers and Sewadal cleaned Bus Stand, Stadium, Dispensary and Library area in the village. Approx. 120 saplings were also planted in the presence of Panchayat Members. Rev. G.P. Chaddha Ji and Rev. Shiv Mohan Ji supervised the activities in this recently selected village by SNCF to turn it to a model village.
