Overview: The IT Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the hospital’s IT operations to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security of IT systems and infrastructure. This role is critical in maintaining uninterrupted hospital operations, safeguarding patient data, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. System Monitoring and Performance Management:
    • Continuously monitor the performance and availability of IT systems, including servers, networks, and applications.
    • Identify and resolve performance issues to ensure minimal disruption to hospital operations.
  2. Technical Support and Incident Management:
    • Provide 24/7 technical support to hospital staff for resolving IT-related issues, including troubleshooting and problem resolution.
    • Manage incident response, ensuring timely resolution of critical IT issues and minimising impact on patient care and hospital functions.
  3. Data Management and Security:
    • Oversee patient data management, including data integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with regulations such as HIPAA.
    • Implement and enforce security measures to protect against data breaches and cyber threats, including regular updates and patches.
  4. System Maintenance and Upgrades:
    • Plan and execute routine maintenance tasks, including system updates, hardware replacements, and software upgrades.
    • Ensure that all systems are up-to-date and functioning efficiently to support hospital operations.
  5. Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity:
    • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure rapid recovery in case of system failures or other emergencies.
    • Conduct regular drills and tests to validate the effectiveness of recovery procedures.
  6. Vendor and Contract Management:
    • Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers, including negotiating contracts, overseeing service level agreements (SLAs), and ensuring that vendors meet their commitments.
  7. Budget and Resource Management:
    • Develop and manage the IT budget, including tracking expenditures, forecasting future needs, and optimising resource allocation.
    • Evaluate and prioritise technology investments based on the hospital’s strategic goals and operational needs.
  8. User Training and Support:
    • Conduct training sessions and provide resources for hospital staff to effectively use IT systems and applications.
    • Develop and maintain user documentation and support materials to assist staff in using technology efficiently.
  9. Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:
    • Ensure that IT operations and systems comply with healthcare regulations, industry standards, and hospital policies.
    • Prepare for and support audits and inspections related to IT systems and data management.
  10. Innovation and Improvement:
    • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend and implement innovations that enhance hospital operations and patient care.
    • Continuously assess and improve IT processes and systems to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Application, Information Technology, or a related field; preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT management.
