Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation Organizes World Environment Day in Darjeeling
In Darjeeling, the programme started with the prayer at 8 am in which more than 400 volunteers of SNCF and Sewa Dal from Darjeeling, Silliguri, Kalimpong, Bagdogra, New Jalpaiguri, Kurseong etc. participated. Rev R K Kapoor, Member ( legal affairs ) represented the Headquarters.
Blessing the participants Sh Kapoor said that pollution both inside and outside is harmful for the society. Plastic pollution is specifically harmful as plastic cannot be destroyed. SNCF is undertaking Blood Donation Camps, Cleanliness Drives and Tree plantation at a large scale to improve the environment.
The Chairperson of the Municipal Corporation Smt. Pratima Roy was the chief guest of the function . On her arrival she was received by Rev R K Kapoor and Sanyojak Rev Urgen Yonzon. Another corporator happened to visit the function. The guests were honored by presenting saplings. Smt Roy while appreciating the efforts of SNCF for improving the environment called upon the volunteers to keep up the tempo. She accompanied the 1.5 km long procession from famous Chaurasta ( VIP Point ) to the Civil Hospital. There were a lot of tourists both Indians and foreigners here. All of them were provided cotton bags of SNCF inspiring everybody to shun the use of plastic. The local Traffic Police had made elaborate arrangements for the procession and joined the efforts of SNCF.
The Distt Hospital was thoroughly cleaned by the volunteers to the best satisfaction of administration. Later plantation was also done in the premises. The local Darjeeling public was all praise for the SNCF activities. The event was well covered by the print media as well the channels. Kshetriya Sanchalak Silliguri Rev Pardeep Yadav ji ably conducted the programme.
